Learning about our rohe

Today we visited the Tea Rooms at the Government Gardens. George and Kristina from the Rotorua Museum guided us through some learning tasks which helped us know a bit more about Rotorua.

We discussed the timeline of Maori and Europeans living in Rotorua and how population changes have impacted the region. We also thought about the challenges that a larger population will pose for our city. Students explored where we could expand and the different housing options available. We learned that living in an active geothermal area impacts the types of buildings we can build to house our people.
