Cooking with Mr G.

We spent some time harvesting and cooking with Mr G. We got some beetroot from our school gardens and blended it with a brownie recipe. James has put together a short video to show us working hard.

Week 1 has flown by

Lost: A student lost his grey school shorts today. Can parents of boys in R4 please check school bags to check they aren't at your house. Thanks.

We have crammed in a lot this week, our class has been super busy and everyone has been doing some fantastic learning.

We have made some manu tukutkuku (Maori kites) to help us learn about the Maori legend of Hatupatu and the Birdwoman.

We chopped up our giant pumpkin and we are giving it away. We have kept some seeds to plant next year as well.

Leonardo shared a wonderful piece of art that he has been working on at home.

We continued our waffle making with Grandma Gail, maybe some Mums will get waffles on Sunday?

Alex shared some videos of him flying with his Grandad, which the class were very interested in.

Anzac Biscuits

Today Viv came in to bake some Anzac biscuits with R3/4 students.  We are so lucky to have volunteers who help our children learn.

Please read the message below regarding 3-way conferences early next term.

Week 2 Term 2 Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

We have Three-Way Conferences (for Parent/Student/Teacher) scheduled for Tuesday 10 May and Wednesday 11 May. Families can choose the day that will work best for them.

Students and their parent(s) need to attend a 10 minute appointment on one of these two days. Details are provided below for how to make an appointment.

Appointments available
Tuesday 10 May 3.15 - 6.45pm
Wednesday 11 May 3.15 - 5.35pm

How to make a booking
Bookings are now open. How do parents make a booking for their child's Three-Way Conference?

There are a number of ways bookings can be made. Either:

1) Go to the School App and then the Links section then School Interviews. Enter the code akwma

2)  Go to www.school interviews.co.nz and enter the event code akwma

When making the booking parents will get the following message:
Thank you for booking an appointment for our Term 2 Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences. Ten minutes is allowed for each appointment. If you are late for your appointment you are likely to be asked to rebook for another time. This is because the class teacher needs to consider the bookings made by other families and keep to the times they have booked for. We look forward to seeing you and your child at the conference.

Swimming and cooking

It is great to see so many students enjoying our swimming lessons in the pool. The improvement is clear to see, having time with Henk Greupink has made a big difference.

Today Mr G and a group of students cooked some of the vegetables that were harvested from our gardens. All of the class got to have a little taste.

Waffle Wednesday with Grandma Gail, combined some cooking maths, writing instructions and eating.

Every Wednesday a group of students cooks waffles for morning tea. Today Lydia and Xavier did a great job with excellent help from Francesca and Ivansha.

Grandma Gail would have been very proud.

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. We had an awesome Liturgy in class which was prepared by Mrs Dobson and Mrs Mines, our DRS team. We had our Lent promises blessed by Father Thomas yesterday and then put on our forehead in the sign of a cross today to show our commitment.

We also made pancakes, a lot of pancakes, with Grandma Gail and ate them for morning tea. This was to celebrate Shrove Tuesday which was yesterday.
