Forensic Science

 Kieran's Dad saw that we had a go at using some forensic science to solve the whodunnit science kit so he came in to show us what he does. 

We even got to have a go at finding fingerprints using the real gear. 

Who Dunnit Science

 Today we were forensic scientists. We explored fingerprints, powders, fabrics and handwriting samples. 

 

 

We then used our skills to solve a 'Who dunnit' crime. 

Learning about circuits

 Today we teamed up with Room 3 to learn about electricity and circuits. We made some simple circuits using batteries, bulbs and playdough. We also used our Makey Makey kids to control our Chromebooks. 

 

 

Dance rehearsals and science

 We have been working on our dance routines with Mrs Trask. We are getting there, slowly. 

In class we have learned how simple machines work and where we might find them around us. 

 

 

Our pest traps are out

 We have placed the pest traps around school, and at a few homes. James M has made a Google Earth project which shows where they are placed. View the Google Earth project here. 

Trapping

We have been working hard to get our pest traps finished so they can be put out around the school. Mr Billing from JPC will join us on Friday to get them finished and ready to be put out around the school. Some students will also take a trap home to get rid of some pests at their place. Let Mr J know if you want one for your place.

Designing and making our pest traps

 Yesterday we worked with Mr Billing to make our pest traps. Our groups used the jig to help put the traps together, drilled the holes and used screws to keep them together. We also typed the instructions, planned where to put the traps and learned the vocabulary of trapping and pests.
