Week 1 flew by. We were very busy and the students were learning well. On Friday night I saw Danica and Sheina on the runway at the Dress for Success event. They were super confident and did a great job.

Danica & Sheina are participating in a Charity Fundraiser Event for Dress for Success – RECYCLE THE RUNWAY, and would love everyone’s support.
We have started to explore geometry, with a focus on 2d and 3d shapes. A group of students have used straws to make and describe some 3d shapes.
Hopefully everyone is healthy and refreshed, ready for an action-packed term. This term we have our school Production, many R4 students have parts. Our entire class will be learning a dance with Room 15 and Mrs Trask. Our class rehearsal day is Tuesday each week.
Please ensure every student has a mask to wear in class. This, along with our air purifiers, having good ventilation and hygiene protocols will hopefully keep us all healthy.
We are visiting the Tea House in the Government Gardens next Monday August 1. We require adult helpers to accompany us, leaving St Mary's just after 9am and returning just before 12pm. Please contact Mr J if you are able to help.
Whanau are invited to meet with me during week 2. Make a booking here, instructions are below.
Hopefully everyone has been reading during the holidays. Please bring in the reading logs this week.

It has seemed to be a bit of a grind at times this term, with many students being away from school for significant amounts of time. However, we have kept working hard and have done some really impressive learning.

Thank you for all the support our whanau gives our learners, it makes a huge difference. And a special think you to Mrs Kemp, Grandma Gail and Viv who all contribute to our class a lot.

It was great to host so many whanau in R4 today, and last week, to share in our project learning. The students really enjoyed showing off their learning.
It is with great sadness I share the news that Fynn's brother Aidan tragically passed away in an accident last week. Having taught Aidan a few years ago I know what a loss he will be to his friends, family and current school Rotorua Boys High School. Aidan was always cheerful and quick-witted, he was a lovely student who always said hello whenever I met him around town.
Aidan's funeral will be on Wednesday, I will be attending and know that it would be nice for Fynn to have some support from his friends. If your child would like to attend please let me know so I can make arrangements to transport them. Students who stay at school will be looked after by another teacher.
We had a class liturgy on Friday where I told the class of this awful news, our class was very caring and kind in their words and thoughts. Our Catholic character definitely shone through.
Tomorrow morning we will be sharing our learning with our whanau. Doors will open from 7:45am -9:00am. There will be some warm breakfast for whanau and we have borrowed the school coffee machine.
